SCSU – Central McGowan Team to Develop Training Programs
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) - St. Cloud State University, and Central McGowan, have been awarded a $205,000 grant to develop a training program.
The grant, from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, is focused on equipping team managers with the skills they need, developing emerging leaders, and up-skill current employees to advanced positions.
Officials say the grant will have three outcomes:
- The incumbent worker gains skills they can carry with them.
- The company gains a stronger workforce with enhanced skills specific to the industry.
- SCSU increases its capacity to develop and deliver new programs that can be used by other businesses.
Central McGowan is a family-owned distributor of welding and industrial equipment, and a distributor of robotic and automation services. They specialize in welding equipment and supplies, gasses, and automation. Central McGowan was founded in 1947 and is a third-generation-owned company.
SCSU’s Professional and Continuing Education department will work with Central McGowan to develop the training programs.
