Clear Lake — Dorothy J. Gilyard, 86, passed away Friday, October 9, 2026, at her home in Clear Lake.
Dorothy was born July 5, 1940, in St. Cloud to Ed and Anna (Michels) Schaefer. She married Lee Gilyard on November 11, 1958, at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake.
Dorothy was a farmer’s wife and homemaker and also worked at a bank. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking for her family, garage sales, thrift-store shopping, and puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Lee, of Clear Lake; daughter, Maxine McClellan of Zimmerman; son, Tom (Peggy) Gilyard of Clear Lake; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, JoAnn Schmiesing of Sartell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan; brothers, Palmer, Andy, Harold, Willy, Ed and Darrel; sisters, Louise and Lorraine; and son-in-law, Arthur McClellan.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Becker. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
