ST. CLOUD -- The community matching challenge kicks off again this year with hopes to top last year's record breaking numbers.

The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation is partnering with the Central Minnesota Community Foundation to match up to $75,000 in food shelf donations.

The challenge raised more than $175,000 last year with a $50,000 match. The two foundations decided to increase their match by $25,000 this year.

Dawn Zimmerman is the Central Minnesota Community Foundation communications director. She says they are expecting to raise more than $100,000.

Proceeds will be donated to three area food shelves including St. Joseph food shelves, Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army. Donations will be matched now through December 31st.

Contributions can be sent directly to the food shelves, to the attention of “Food Shelf Charity Challenge”.
