One Man Hurt, Another Charged After Monticello Crash

MONTICELLO -- A Clearwater man was seriously hurt in a weekend crash in Monticello.

The Wright County Sheriff's Office says 42-year-old Darin Hayes was heading west on county road 39 and 54-year-old Brian Krautbauer of Monticello was heading east, when Krautbauer  turned in front of Hayes' vehicle.  The two vehicles collided head-on at the intersection of Aetna Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Hayes suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital.  Krautbauer of Monticello was taken to Buffalo hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Krautbauer was later booked into the Wright County Jail on Felony Criminal Vehicle Operation, 2nd Degree DWI, and Driving after Cancellation.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.
