Norbert A. Sobania, 90, Opole

January 11, 1925 - January 28, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Norbert Sobania, age 90, of Opole, will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Opole. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Norbert died peacefully at home on Wednesday surrounded by his family. There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Friday and again after 10:00 AM Saturday at the church in Opole. Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish prayers will be at 5:30 PM Friday at the church. Arrangements are with Miller-Carlin Funeral Home, Holdingford.

Norbert was born January 11, 1925 in Opole to Peter and Sophia (Mastey) Sobania. He has lived on the same farm all of his life. He married Jeanette Bieniek on August 28, 1951 in Mayhew Lake. Norbert was on the Brockway Township Board of Supervisors for many years, he was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Norbert had a great love for farming, enjoyed four-wheeling, and spending time with family and friends.

Norbert is survived by his children Diane Schaefer (Greg Fisher), St. Cloud; Karen (Bruce) Oja, Burnsville; Rose Ann (Tony) Chamberlain, St. Cloud; Roger (Linda) Sobania, St. Cloud; Joyce (Dale) Hasch, St. Joseph; Dale (Melanie) Sobania, Rice; Judy (Brad) Boulton, Avon; sisters Rose Dobos, Sartell and Clara Kroll, Opole. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren Jeff & Russ Schaefer, Ryan & Keith Maciej, Craig & David Chamberlain, Dean & Derek Hasch, Kara, Caitlyn, and Landon Sobania, Abby & Samuel Boulton; and six great-grandchildren.

Norbert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanette in 2011, his brothers Ed Sobania and Art Sobania, and his sister Delores Janski.
