Motorcyclist Dies in Crash After Fleeing Police in Edina

BLOOMINGTON -- The State Patrol says a motorcyclist has died after fleeting police in Edina and then crashing in Bloomington.

The Patrol says an Edina police officer spotted 50-year-old Christopher Lee Sundholm, of Crystal, speeding on Minnesota Highway 100 in Edina on Saturday afternoon. The officer attempted to stop him, but he fled west on Interstate 494 at over 100 mph. The Patrol says the officer abandoned the chase after two minutes.

But the Patrol says Sundholm continued to speed west toward U.S. Highway 169, where he struck a concrete barrier as he attempted to exit.

Sundholm died at the scene.
