Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry for Mary Ann (Ludwig) Fasbender, age 78, of Paynesville, who went to her eternal rest on June 11, 2016. Fr. Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Paynesville.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 and after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, all at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry.

Mary Ann was born on July 24, 1937 to Peter Herbert and Barbara (Mergen) Ludwig near Lake Henry. She married James P. Fasbender on June 30, 1956 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry. Mary Ann was a 1955 graduate of Paynesville High School and St. Cloud State College. She taught elementary school in White, South Dakota for two years. After moving to their farm in the Paynesville area in 1963, she taught in Farming, Roscoe, Paynesville, and ROCORI schools. Her teaching career spanned 34 years.

​As an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Mary Ann served as representative for the Diocesan Centennial, as an Adoration Coordinator, catechism teacher and library volunteer. She also volunteered at the Koronis Manor. She was a member of the St. Louis Christian Women, St. Catherine Mission Group, and was a charter member and first president of the Koronis Nite Owls square dance club. Mary Ann enjoyed teaching, dancing, reading and playing cards, but mostly she loved spending time with her family, friends, and beloved grandchildren. She was proud of her ten Godchildren too.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Patricia Fasbender, Des Moines, IA, Linda (Scott) Liebl, Richmond, MN and Joe (Christina) Fasbender, Wyoming, MN; seven grandchildren, Leeza, Patric and Petir Thompson, Mack and Ben Liebl, and Lillian and Ruby Fasbender; siblings, Loretta Wuertz of Waite Park, Mike Ludwig of Melrose, Herb Ludwig (Michelle) of Buffalo, Florentine (LeRoy) Zipko of Maplewood, and Anita (John) Giulianni of Maplewood; sister-in-law Leona (Art) Wuertz of Lake Henry and brother-in-law Lee Salzl of Watkins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband James, infant daughter Amy, an infant brother, an infant sister; brothers, Celestine Ludwig, Peter A. Ludwig, Br. Robert Ludwig; sisters, Sr. Catherine Ludwig, Olivia Salzl and Florence Graham; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Ludwig, Lorraine Ludwig, Theresa Ludwig, Vonnie Ludwig and brother-in-law Othmar Wuertz.

​Masses and memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
