FOLEY -- A man accused of kidnapping a Coborn's employee in Foley and forcing that employee to drive him to Minneapolis has been formally charged in Benton County District Court.

39-year-old Brandon Stark is charged with three counts of kidnapping and one count each of second degree assault and terroristic threats.

According to the criminal complaint, Stark entered the store at about 2:30 a.m. June 12th, grabbed a large kitchen knife from the shelf and approached the manager. Stark then forced the manager to drive him to the Twin Cities or he'd kill a female employee in the store.

During the ride, records show Stark threatened to kill the manager and his family multiple times and that he'd just gotten out of jail.

The driver eventually dropped Stark off at a location in Minneapolis. Stark allegedly thanked the victim for the ride, shook his hand and asked that he wait at least an hour before reporting it to police.

The driver returned to Foley at about 7:30 a.m. unhurt.

Stark was previously convicted of felony aggravated robbery in Crow Wing County in 2006.
