SAUK RAPIDS -- Kristen Stiegel has been named the 2013 Sauk Rapids Citizen of the Year.

She was nominated by co-workers, friends and family for her volunteer work with the Sauk Rapids-Rice school district. Stiegel co-chaired the Levy For Learning committee and helped pass last year's levy.

She says she was nominated in the past and was surprised to find out she was being honored as the Citizen of the Year.

She also volunteers as a Sunday school teacher at Living Waters Lutheran Church. Stiegel says she wants to be a role model for young members in the community.

The Sauk Rapids Chamber is holding a luncheon tomorrow (Thursday) to honor Stiegel and all of the nominees following the monthly chamber meeting at 11:30 a.m.

It will be held in the Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School community room. The event is open to the public and costs $15 dollars.

You can register by calling the Sauk Rapids Chamber at 251-2940.
