Local Authorities Hand Out 27 Citations During Short-Term Traffic Detail

UNDATED -- Local authorities put a short-term enforcement on texting while driving violations in the St. Cloud Metro Thursday.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office say extra deputies were on patrol along several St. Cloud and Waite Park roads looking for offenders.

Areas of focus were Division Street from downtown St. Cloud to 10th Avenue in Waite Park, Highway 15 between 2nd Street and 12th Street North in St. Cloud, and Roosevelt Road from Cooper Avenue in St. Cloud to 10th Avenue in Waite Park.

During the traffic detail deputies stopped 35 vehicles resulting in 27 citations. Of the 27 citations, 15 were for texting while driving.

Other violations included driving after revocations, seatbelt violation, no proof of insurance, stoplight violation, inattentive driving, and failure to update address on driver's license
