Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN for Linda Marie Schreifels, age 86 of St. Cloud, who died at the St. Benedict Senior Community on Monday, August 18, 2014. The Reverend Thomas Knoblach will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud, and also one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday.

Linda was born on June 30, 1928 in Cold Spring, MN the daughter of Leo R. and Johanna A. (Michels) Hansen. She grew up in Cold Spring and attended St. Boniface Catholic School. Linda was united in marriage to Celestine J. (Cy) Schreifels on May 13, 1948 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. She lived all her married life in St. Cloud, where she and Cy raised their children.

Linda worked as a meat wrapper for various grocers in the area for many years. She also worked at Garvey Commons at St. Cloud State University until she retired in 2000. She continued to live at home until recently being cared for at St. Benedict Senior Community.

She liked to go fishing with her friends, dancing at different locations in the area, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Linda was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, also a member of Christian Women.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cy, on April 8, 1993, her nine month old daughter, Debbie, in 1952, and one brother Eldred.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen (Pete) Svihel of Foley, MN; two sons, Rob (Jodi) Schreifels of Foley, MN, and James Schreifels (fiancée Desirea St. Clair) of St. Cloud; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, Alicia, April, and Amanda Schreifels, Sara Svihel and Brittany (Svihel) Vukelich and six great grandchildren; one sister, Tootz (Tom) Kelley of Cold Spring, MN, and one brother Leo (Pat) Hansen of Sartell, MN; and many other relatives and friends.
