Mass of Christian Burial will be private at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Julia Breznik Soroko who died peacefully at Quiet Oaks Hospice in St. Augusta on November 30, 2015. Burial will be at Chisholm Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.

Julia was born in Chisholm, Minnesota on December 16, 1925, she was the daughter of Johannes Breznik and Julia Roski, immigrants from the Austro-Hungarian Empire who came from the old country in search of a better life. Her father worked in the underground mines and her mother worked as a homemaker and raised their eight children. Julia was married to Michael Soroko on August 20, 1949. A lifelong resident of Chisholm, she moved to St. Cloud along with Michael, her devoted husband of nearly 70 years, in May 2013 and resided at the St. Benedict Village.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sauk Rapids and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm. Julia loved to read, crochet, garden, travel and volunteer for the church and other causes she believed would build communities and make the world a better place. She enjoyed spending time with family on the North Shore, especially with her granddaughter Emma, and served as the president of KSKJ, a Slovenian fraternal organization for over 20 years. She will be remembered for her generosity to others, her outgoing personality and natural leadership qualities, uncompromising devotion to family and deep faith in God.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; her daughters, Connie Soroko Nicolelli (husband EJ) and Mary Soroko Ditlevson (husband Andrew); granddaughter, Emma; siblings, Catherine and Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations will be given to Julia’s favorite charity.
