Minnesota Shines As One Of America’s Most Educated States
With a large number of residents holding high school diplomas and a big chunk of those having at least attended some college courses, Minnesota ranks among the most educated states in the country.
“There’s a strong correlation between being more educated and receiving higher compensation. The most educated states provide high-quality educational experiences from elementary school all the way to graduate programs, which helps parents raise children in an environment that gives them as many opportunities as possible," said WalletHub's Chip Lupo.
"The top states also provide equitable schooling conditions, with low racial and gender gaps in educational attainment.”
Minnesota ranks third in the nation for percent of residents with an Associate's degree or having some college experience, according to a recent study from WalletHub.
In the category of Educational Attainment, which combines the above factors with the number of residents with a graduate degree, Minnesota finished eighth overall.
Minnesota ranked #20 in Quality of Education, which included factors such as the quality of school systems, blue ribbon schools per capita, quality of universities and math/reading test scores among others.
Massachusetts ranked #1 overall, and earned the top spot in the Educational Attainment category, while Vermont, Maryland, Connecticut and Colorado rounded out the top five.
The bottom five, starting with #50, were West Virginia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Nevada.
