For a lot of us, our pets aren't just pets. They are family. Even when they pass, they leave their mark on us; We picture them in certain places in the house, perched in a window, or maybe waiting at the front door when you get home from work.

For those having a tough time making ends meet right now, Grey Face Rescue wants to help keep your animals at home with you...where they belong.

SOME CHOICES ARE DIFFICULT TO MAKE

When money gets tight, the last thing anyone wants is to have to choose between putting food on the table and feeding the dog or cat waiting for them at home. Sometimes things can get so bad that you have to choose whether to keep your pet or give them up for adoption.

That's where Grey Face Rescue is hoping to lend a helping paw.

GREY FACE RESCUE - COMMUNITY GIVES PICK-UP

The Grey Face Gives Program is hosting a free 'Community Gives Pick-Up' on Tuesday, October 20th, at the Whitney Senior Center in St. Cloud. From 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. People of the St. Cloud community can stop by and pick up free pet food and other supplies for this one-day-only event.

The goal of the Grey Face Gives Program is simple: help people keep their pets at home and out of shelters by providing some of the supplies they need.

And this isn't the first time Grey Face has seen a big response to one of these events. Previous distributions have drawn large crowds, so organizers are encouraging people to arrive early because supplies are available only while they last. There are a couple of things to know if you're planning to attend:

  • A short form will need to be completed at pickup.
  • Record the amount of food or litter you receive. That information helps Grey Face Rescue track how many people and pets the program is helping and allows them to continue providing these resources to the community
  • Organizers are also asking everyone to be patient and kind. When you have a popular free community event, there can be a lot of people waiting, and the volunteers are working hard to serve as many families as possible.

A NON-COMPLICATED WAY TO HELP OUT

I love the idea behind this program because sometimes helping doesn't have to be complicated. A bag of dog food, a container of cat litter, or a few pet supplies can make a real difference for someone who is struggling.

Most importantly, it can help keep a beloved pet right where they belong: at home with their family.

Como Park Zoo

Como Park Zoo has been a staple in St. Paul since it first opened in 1897. The park, zoo, and conservatory continue to evolve, and the attraction remains free to attend. If you can't visit the zoo, check out the photos below of many of its residents.
