Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Hildagard “Hilly” S. Grundhoefer, 85, of St. Cloud who passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud. Rev. Douglas Liebsch will officiate and burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and also one hour prior to services at the church in St. Cloud on Friday morning. Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers praying the rosary at the funeral home on Thursday evening.

Hilly was born April 23, 1932 to John and Anna (Weires) Janson in White Lake, South Dakota. She married Alfred E. Grundhoefer on October 26, 1954. Hilly was employed by Quebecor Printing for 30 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church and was actively involved with the Christian Mothers and Daughters of Isabella. Hilly enjoyed cross country and downhill skiing well into her 80’s. She enjoyed traveling, spending time at the lake, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, knitting and embroidery. Hilly was very family oriented, feisty, fun-loving, and good natured. She was a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins. Hilly will be remembered most for being unfailingly kind and supportive.

Hilly is survived by her children, Ray (Rebecca) of Foley, Herb of Sauk Rapids, Gloria Grundhoefer of Minnetonka, Mark (Doreen) of St. Cloud, Helen (Wilson) Velez of Mason, OH; sister, Rosanna Leither of Sauk Rapids; sisters in law, Rita Janson of Sauk Rapids, Geraldine Janson of St. Cloud and Lorraine Janson of Foley; eight grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred “Fritz” in 1970; brothers, Edward Janson, Albert Janson, Bernard Janson, John H. Janson; and sisters, Magdalina Janson, Adeline Then, and Marie Steiner.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Coborn Cancer Center and to Dr. Jurgens for the wonderful care that was provided to Hilly and also, a heartfelt thank you to St. Benedict’s Senior Community and St. Croix Hospice for the care, love and support that was shown to Hilly and her entire family.
