GARRISON (WJON News) -- A detour starting Monday will impact drivers who use Highway 169 along Mille Lacs Lake.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says Highway 169 will close between Crow Wing County Road 26 and 460th Street South of Garrison.

The closure is necessary to replace three culverts beneath the roadway and is part of a larger project that starts in May. Drivers will follow a signed detour along County Road 26 to County Road 8 to 460th Street.

The work is expected to last five days and all lanes will reopen by Noon on Friday, May 3rd.

Starting in late May, a resurfacing and improvement project will cover seven miles of Highway 169 along the west side of Mille Lacs Lake.
