Disc Golf Course Opens in Sauk Rapids [AUDIO]

SAUK RAPIDS - The metro area's newest disc golf course is open and ready for play.

Sauk Rapids has built a course at Mayhew Creek Park, right behind the high school.  Public Works Director Pete Eeckhoff was in charge of building the course - the first one he's ever done.

Eeckhoff says it's one of the biggest courses in the area, with some holes over 400 yards..

The Mayhew Creek Park Disc Golf Course has 18 holes, plus a practice basket.  Eeckhoff says they'll continue to put some finishing touches on the course throughout the summer.

He says enthusiasts are excited to use the course.

The process for the course began back in 2007.  It had been tabled and pushed back several times by the city council prior to getting passed last summer.
