CENTRAL MN MADE: Princeton Company Ships Over 6 Million Cases of Liquor Worldwide in 2012 [AUDIO]

PRINCETON - UV and Phillips Vodkas are definitely well-known brands - and you might be surprised to learn that they, along with hundreds of others, are created right here in our area.

United States Distilled Products is today's featured "Made in Central Minnesota" business.

The company was born in 1976 but made a home in Princeton 5 years later. All 3,000 unique products are mixed, bottled and shipped worldwide from Princeton.

Chief Financial Officer Patricia Pelzer has been with USDP for 12 years. She says, even though the company does have an international presence, they're committed to staying and hiring in, and contributing to, the Princeton community.

"We do have very adult oriented products," Pelzer explains. "But, we want to support all of our community any way we can."

Pelzer says the business has seen exciting growth year over year, both in brands and in staff - even during the recession. "It's not easier to manage during successful times, but it definitely is a lot more fun," she says.

USDP boasts a 255 member workforce, and expect to increase that by around 50 in the coming year. Most of the positions they need to fill are what Pelzer calls "highly technical manufacturing," and they are actively recruiting from area technical colleges and high schools.
