CentraCare Hosting Events To Raise Awareness About Strokes
ST. CLOUD -- May is American Stroke Month and CentraCare is partnering with the community to raise awareness about the disease.
Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States. Getting treatment within 60 minutes can increase your chance of survival.
To help educate the community, the CentraCare Neurosceinces Stroke Center is joining other cities across the state for the Strides for Stroke walk. This annual event honors stroke survivors, raises stroke awareness and helps fund programs that benefit Minnesotans who live with the effects of stroke. The walk begins at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the CentraCare Plaza.
Next month, CentraCare is partnering with the St. Cloud Rox for Strike Out Stroke on June 5th. The first 300 kids ages 14 and under get a wooden baseball bat.
St. Cloud Hospital treats the most strokes of any Minnesota hospital and The CentraCare Neurosciences Stroke Center is the largest comprehensive stroke program in the state.
