Boys and Girls Club Receives Over $55K from St. Cloud Subaru

ST. CLOUD -- The Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota received a donation of $55,398 from St. Cloud Subaru.

Owner Scott Bement helped to present the check Wednesday afternoon. He says the money was raised during Subaru's national "Share the Love" event, which collects $250 for each car sold from November 22nd to January 2nd.

"It's kind of overwhelming how huge [the donation] was this year -- last year, it was $12,000 and that was amazing," Bement says. "So to give this kind of money is cool."

"I can hardly wait to give them the real checks so they can  get back there and spend it."

Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Mark Sakry says it's one of the largest ever contributions from a corporate sponsor.

"We're so grateful, first of all," Sakry says. "To hear the Share the Love campaign had gone over so well, we're just ecstatic."

"[The kids] are going to get the help they need to succeed in school, and we provide a meal at our three clubs -- 72,000 meals last year -- so, that $55,000 will be put to good use."
