Growing up as a kid, my parents provided us with everything we needed, but the things we wanted were not as prevalent. A real treat happened about once per month when my dad on a Friday evening would bring home hamburgers from a little diner in our town. The place was very similar to Val’s in St. Cloud.

To put it mildly, what we called “treats” weren’t always around. A real treat for us was a box of Little Debbie snack cakes. The problem is that everybody in the house shared them, for lunches and such, so they didn’t last long and when they were gone, they were gone. We didn’t get any more until the next payday.

And even though I don’t eat as many sweet treats as I used to, I’m still very partial to Little Debbie and the goodness she bakes up. That’s why I got a little excited this week to learn that some of the tastiest Little Debbie's were coming back in ice cream form.

MSN.com reported this week that four of the classic flavors will be available soon in ice cream bars. Just in time for the warmer weather months, now we’re talking. The flavors are:

Birthday Cake Ice Cream Bars- White cake flavored ice cream with cake pieces and sprinkles mixed in for good measure.

Strawberry Shortcake Rolls Ice Cream Bars- White cake flavored ice cream with cake bites and strawberry swirled throughout the roll. These were always a favorite at our house.

Nutty Bar Ice Cream Bars- I bet as a kid and teenager I ate my weight in these. The ice cream version is creamy peanut butter with crunchy peanut butter pieces dipped in chocolate.

Star Crunch Ice Cream Bars- Carmel ice cream with Carmel ribbon and crunchy crispy bites with chocolate.

These ice cream bars will join two other Little Debbie flavors you’ll find in the freezer at your favorite store. Enjoy the flavor, and maybe you’ll be like me, and these will trigger a flashback to when you were younger.
