2 Men Arrested After Drug Deal In South St. Cloud
ST. CLOUD -- The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force arrested two St. Cloud men allegedly involved in a drug deal in south St. Cloud on Tuesday.
Reports say that investigators were informed that a drug sale of crack cocaine was going to happen in the 900 block of Cooper Avenue South.
Surveillance of the location was set up and authorities witnessed 22-year-old Martell Burson of St. Cloud get into a vehicle.
Officers stopped the vehicle at the intersection of University Drive and Roosevelt Road and found crack cocaine under the seat Burson was sitting in.
The five people inside the vehicle were then taken into custody, including 20-year-old Darius Jackson of St. Cloud - who had a previous charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Burson and Jackson were taken to Stearns County Jail for booking while the other three people were released.
A search of Burson and Jackson at the jail found more crack cocaine concealed inside their body cavities.
Reports say that Burson threw one of the withdrawn bags of drugs at a correctional officer, striking them.
Burson is facing charges of fourth-degree assault against the officer along with the charge of first-degree possession of controlled substances.
Jackson is facing charges of third-degree possession with intent to sell.
Both men face possible charges of introducing contraband to a correctional facility.
The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force includes officers from the St. Cloud, Sartell, and Little Falls Police Departments and deputies from the Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Morrison, and Todd County Sheriff's Offices. The task force was also assisted by the SCPD K-9 unit.
