MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Prosecutors have charged a 39-year-old woman with fatally stabbing another woman after an argument in downtown Minneapolis.

Shermeika Franklin of Minneapolis was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder in the killing of 42-year-old Mesheka Willis. Willis was stabbed in the chest Saturday night at a bus depot.

Police watched surveillance video and saw Franklin arguing with Willis, the two women circling each other and then Willis staggering and falling to the ground.

Franklin was arrested at a nearby apartment. She told police that Willis had been bothering her and punched her in the chin.

Franklin remains jailed ahead of a court appearance Thursday. Court records do not list an attorney who could comment on her behalf.
