Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Vernon “Vern” H. Zenner, age 96, of Sauk Rapids who passed away Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Gerald Dalseth will officiate and inurnment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the church on Friday.

Vern was born November 20, 1918 to Henry and Anna (Karls) Zenner in St. Cloud. Vern courageously served his country during WWII in the United States Navy from 1941-1946. On April 9, 1947 he married the love of his life Patricia Mecklenburg at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Vern worked at Nickels Dean and Gregg for 12 years before becoming self-employed working as an auto parts salesman for Zenner Distributing Company for 28 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud, the Waite Park Legion #428 and the VFW #4847. Vern loved spending his weekends at his cabin on Hand Lake fishing and spending time with his family. He was easy going and had a great sense of humor. Vern’s family meant the world to him. He will be deeply missed.

Vern is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Patricia; children, Thomas (Dianne) of Sartell, Cathy (Vic Loehrer) Zenner of Kirkland, WA; step grandchildren; Kendra (Chip) Evanoff, Jeremy Doll; step great-grandchildren, Colton and Kassidy Evanoff; brother, Harry Zenner of Alexandria; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Myron “Mike” and Roman “Manny” Zenner.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or the March of Dimes.

Vern’s family would like to thank the St. Cloud VA, St. Cloud Hospital Progressive Care Unit, Ridgeview Place and the Saving Grace Home Health Care for their care and compassion.
