Thousands of Turkey Chicks Lost in Swanville Fire
SWANVILLE (AP) - Thousands of turkey poults have been lost in a fire at a barn owned by a producer in Todd County.
The sheriff's department says firefighters were called to the barn fire near Swanville about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The barn owned by Jennie-O housed about 19,000 4-week-old turkeys. Authorities say all the birds were lost in the fire and the barn sustained major damage.
Fire departments from Swanville, Grey Eagle and Flensburg were on the scene.
