SAUK RAPIDS - It was a noticeably cooler and crisp day this morning at the Bob Cross Complex for the second half of the 2013 Men's Slow Pitch North American Championships.

Hundreds of players and fans have come out for the games this Labour Day weekend. The tournament had its opening ceremonies on Friday night and continues through today. The event is hosted by the National Softball Federation.

Teams will be competing for first place in their divisions and will receive a plaque if they do so.

After a hot day of softball yesterday, Tournament host and manager Dennis Kenning says the cool weather is welcome.

"It definitely is cooler and it seems like people have a better attitude, they're impressed with the fields and the umpiring and everything" Kenning said.

This year the Minnesota Sports Federation awarded Sauk Rapids the tournament. Kenning says he feels "really honored to host this 30 team tournament."

Championships will begin later today around 5 p.m. tickets are being sold at the park.
