Alex Kuno: The Miscreants of Tiny Town

Alice Rogers Gallery & Target Gallery - Saint John's University

The Miscreants of Tiny Town is a series of darkly satirical fairy tale vignettes created by Alex Kuno. The artwork presents the trials and tribulations of children through various art forms including mixed media paintings on hand-carved wood pieces, drawings, sculptures, and installations. Kuno started the series in 2008 and has been expanding on it since then. He works with the longings and fears from early childhood and how it affects the grown-up understanding  about real-world, large-scale cultural, economic and environmental change. The work being displayed in this exhibit is called "Crytotopographies of Malthusia: Stories of Worry and Wonder From The Miscreants of Tiny Town Miscellany". Kuno's work will be on display until September 13th. There will be an artist reception on Friday, September 11th from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Kuno will present an artist talk at 6:00 p.m. The summer gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
