ST. CLOUD - Rising health care costs and an increasing senior population are just a few reasons the Whitney Senior Center is hosting a free health and fitness fair.

The event will have around 40 different local health experts to help local seniors with any questions they may have.

Laura Hood is the Aging Services Director at the Whitney Senior Center. Hood says people age 55 and older are the fastest growing population in America.

"There are more of us that are 55 and older, that is the fastest growing demographic we have right now. They estimate that by 2020 there will be more people over the age of 65 than school age children."

At the fair there will be multiple different options for free screenings. Some of the screenings include memory, stroke and balance.

The event is Thursday, from 8:00 p.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Whitney Recreation Center.
