Stearns County Wants Speed Study on Highway 137

WAITE PARK -- Stearns County is requesting a speed study for a short stretch of county road in Waite Park.

County Engineer Jodi Teich says they are asking the Minnesota Department of Transportation for the speed study on County Highway 137 between 2nd Street South and County Highway 74.

The segment of road way set for review includes the overpass of Highway 15 and has a speed limit of 45 miles-per-hour.

Teich says they are seeking a slightly lower speed limit because of increased residential development in the area and a high number of crashes.

The city of Waite Park gave its approval at a meeting today.
