Stearns County Reminds You It’s Illegal To Dump Snow on Roads

ST. CLOUD -- The Stearns County Highway Department is reminding residents to avoid shoveling or blowing snow onto roads.

It is illegal to dump, shovel or blow snow onto the public road system and is punishable by a fine up to $700 and a potential jail sentence of up to 90 days.

The snow can become a hazard to motorists and damage snowplows if it becomes compacted and frozen on the roads. Open areas are especially vulnerable to drifting.

You can be held liable if your actions lead to damage or injuries.
