St. Cloud Teen to Stand Trial as an Adult

ST. CLOUD -- A 17-year-old St. Cloud boy will stand trial as an adult in the case of a deadly punch that killed another man in September.

Stearns County Attorney Janelle Kendall says they got the judge's ruling on Jesse Smithers late Friday.

Smithers is accused of punching 20-year-old Colton Gleason once, causing him to fall backward and hit his head. Gleason later died at St. Cloud Hospital.

Smithers is charged with second degree murder, first degree manslaughter and first degree assault. He is expected to be in court today before being booked into the Stearns County Jail.
