ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud Police Department has released the number of citations given during the three-day move in weekend at St. Cloud State University.

St. Cloud Police, SCSU and St. Cloud City Officials made contact with 225 Southside residence prior to move in weekend, sending  a message of welcome and advising students of local ordinances, police and SCSU collaborations, and general safety precautions.

Police say that statistics show a drop in the number of offenses over the weekend as compared to 2012. A total of 59 people were cited for various offenses, down from 161 in 2012.

St. Cloud State University officials say of the the 59 people cited, 11 are current SCSU students.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the number of individuals cited during move-in weekend has declined.

Of the citations handed out, 29 were for under age drinking and 27 for an open container on the street/sidewalk Others include fleeing on foot, urinating in public and disorderly conduct.

The Stearns County Jail booked five people on a variety of charges that were related to the move-in day enforcement.

The St. Cloud Police Department would like to thank the residents and University officials for their cooperation and efforts over the weekend.
