ST. CLOUD -- A little bit of sun, water and care is what it takes to grow a plant.

St. Cloud area girl scouts hosted their 1st Annual Earth Day Planting Event today (Saturday) at the St. Cloud State University Community Garden.

Each scout helped community members plant either flower or vegetable seeds in disposable pots. Each person could then bring their plant home and transplant it into their home garden.

Troop leader Cyndy Thayer says the girls have been having a lot fun learning about planting and they are excited to continue the planting event for many years to come.

"We figured this is a great way to give back to the community, help support Earth Day and it's a great way for the girls to help out with community events."  --Thayer

Many local businesses helped donate supplies for the event.
