St. Cloud Airport Restaurant Serving More Customers [AUDIO]
ST. CLOUD - More flights coming and going at the St. Cloud Regional Airport means more business for the restaurant in the terminal.
The airport restaurant closed down a few years ago, when the Delta flights pulled out of St. Cloud. But, "JK Flyers" reopened in December of 2012 when Allegiant started flying to Arizona. Allegiant also has added a weekly flight to Orlando, Florida.
Co-Owner Nick Gerten says they offer more than your typical airport food.
Gerten says "JK Flyers" is open from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. seven days a week. They're also open three hours before every flight.
United Airlines began their twice-daily flights to-and-from Chicago's O'Hare Airport on Tuesday, May 6th. Gerten says, with the increased traffic and extra hours that they're open, they're adding staff to keep-up.
Gerten and his business partner Jeff Keller lease the space from the city of St. Cloud. He says, at the request of Mayor Dave Kleis, they are working on a liquor license to they can also sell beer and wine at the restaurant.
Gerten says they also get a significant amount of business from people and businesses near the airport.
