Sauk Rapids to Begin Negotiations with Allied Waste for Garbage Collection
SAUK RAPIDS - Sauk Rapids is closer to having one citywide garbage hauler. The council this (Monday) evening voted unanimously to move into negotiations with Allied Waste Services.
If a contract with the company is approved, they would collect garbage one day a week, and administer the billing.
Council member Kurt Hunstiger says he doesn't currently use Allied Waste, but the new system would save him about $250 a year. Council Member Paul Weber says he is a Allied Waste customer and the new system will bring his bill down from $30 a month to $12 a month.
A contract for the council's final approval is expected to be voted on at their March 11th meeting.
