SARTELL -- The City of Sartell is in the early stages of a planning project that could lead to the construction of a new Community Center.

The city council unanimously approved a measure to give the Community Resource Facilities Task Force the power to create a conceptual design.

The task force presented its plan to the council last (Monday) night that would include a 10,000 square foot building on the property next to the city hall.

The new building would include a senior center, multi-use space and a small library.

Although the project is in an early planning stage, construction could begin as soon as spring 2014.

Sartell Mayor Joe Perske says the time is right, due to favorable interest rates and lower costs of construction.
