SARTELL -- The search for a new fire chief in Sartell is over.

Earlier this summer the Sartell city council appointed Jim Sattler to replace Sartell Fire Chief Ken Heim, who announced his plans to retire back in April.

Sattler has served on the Sartell fire department for over 26 years, currently as the 2nd assistant to the fire chief. He has been transitioning into his new role learning from Heim before he retires on December 31st.

Heim joined the Sartell Fire Department in 1985 and spent the last 20 years as the fire chief.

Sattler will be officially sworn in to the position next month and take over as chief on January 1st, 2016.

The Sartell Fire department serves both Sartell and LeSauk Township.
