SARTELL -- The Sartell Fire Department will be in search of a new fire chief.

During tonight's (Monday) city council meeting Ken Heim announced his retirement after 30 years on the job.

"It's been a really good ride, it's been exciting but all good things must come to an end," says Heim.

Heim joined the Sartell Fire Department in 1985 and in December will have spent the last 20 years as the fire chief.

He says there are many things that stand out during his time on the department and he will miss it all.

"I'm going to miss the guys, I'm going to miss going up to the fire hall and I'll still stop up there, but yes it's been a great 30 years," says Heim.

Heim says it's been an honor to serve the city of Sartell and LeSauk Township. He will officially retire December 31st.
