Ruth M. Nystrom, 87, Cold Spring

December 14, 1927 - February 24, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Ruth M. Nystrom, age 87, of Cold Spring will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday March 3, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl Lake (Marty), MN. The Rev. Ronald Weyrens will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call between 4:00-8:00 PM on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:30 AM on Tuesday at the church in Pearl Lake. Holy Cross parish prayers will be at 7:45 PM on Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Ruth was born on December 14, 1927 in St. Cloud, MN to Patrick J. and Verena P. (Maehren) Meagher. She married Donald R. Nystrom on Dec. 27, 1954 in St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Ruth retired in 1993 after working as a public health nurse for the State of Minnesota. Ruth was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl Lake, United Commercial Travelers, Hutchinson Elks Lodge 2427, and the St. Cloud Hospital Nurses Alumni Association. Ruth will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

Ruth is survived by: children Mark (Laura Budweg) of Apple Valley, Becky (Jeff) Bartz of Avon, David (Jim Smith) of Rogers, John of Marshfield, WI; grandchildren Kris and Kylie Bartz of Avon; sisters Rachel O’Brien of Avon, Renee Gebeke of Oakdale; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Tom, grandson Kyle Bartz; brothers David, Daniel, and Patrick Jr.

Memorials are preferred to the Albany Special Olympics.
