River Bluffs Park Gets Legacy Grant to Expand
ST. CLOUD -- The city of St. Cloud has received money from the Parks and Trails Legacy Grant Program to expand the River Bluffs Regional Park.
Parks and Recreation Director Scott Zlotnik says the $580-thousand grant will be used to help buy 35 acres of adjacent land titled the Campbell property. He says it would add significant natural features to the park along the Mississippi River.
Zlotnik says once the land is acquired, they would look to make trail connections, but keep the park as a natural setting which mirrors the existing park in south St. Cloud.
The city doesn't yet have a purchase agreement for the property, but Zlotnik says they have a willing seller.
Under the grant program, the city must buy the property and then ask for reimbursement through the program. The property is valued at about $681-thousand.
