Raymond P. Barthel, 93, Cold Spring

September 13, 1922 – October 11, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 15, 2015 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Raymond P. Barthel, age 93, who died Sunday at Assumption Nursing Home. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m., followed by a rosary with the Catholic Order of Foresters. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:15 a.m., Thursday morning at the funeral home.

Raymond was born in Cold Spring, MN to Hubert and Anna Marie (Simons) Barthel. He was a carpenter for Cold Spring Lumber and retired in 1984. Raymond enjoyed being outside, feeding and watching the birds and squirrels, tending his flowers and woodworking in his shop. One of his favorite weekly visits was going to Wenner’s Hardware Store. He was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Boniface Parish.

Survivors include his sisters, Dorothy Eisenschenk and Rose Jonas; brother-in-law, Marcellus Schreifels; his dog, Tina and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clem (Christine) Barthel, Osmund (Gertrude & Becky) Barthel, Elizabeth (Lawrence) Eisenschenk, Sr. Aiden Barthel, OSB, Marie Schreifels, Margaret (Clarence) Schreifels; brothers-in law, Henry Eisenschenk and Sylvester Jonas.
