WAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP (WJON News) -- The Stearns County Parks Department is holding a public meeting on Thursday to gather feedback on the county's newest park.

The county recently acquired 253 acres of land adjacent to Knauss Lake on the Sauk River Chain of Lakes.

Chain of Lakes County Park is located along County Road 49 and will be centered on wildlife habitat and conservation.

The meeting is meant to get feedback from the community on what possible amenities they'd like to see. It's the first county park to allow public archery deer hunting and small game hunting.

Some amenities could include a boat landing, picnic shelter, bathrooms, a fishing pier, and primitive camping sites.

The meeting will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wakefield Town Hall at 22295 Frostview Road in Cold Spring.

The county is hoping to have the park open to the public by late summer or fall next year.
