The art shop space, located under the Paramount Theatre, has been expanding their open studio program for the past three years.

Visual Arts Center Office Manager Derick Segerstrom says the program was initially developed for teens, but now they offer drop-in workshop space for drawing, painting, pottery, glass design and even woodworking for people of any age.

Segerstrom says the great thing about opening up the workshop to all is the possibility that more experienced artists can lend a hand to newcomers.

Segerstrom says the program has caught on in the last few years, and now they average anywhere between 30 and 60 people every Thursday night.

Open Studio starts at 6 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids and teens, and the fees cover all art materials.
