ST. PAUL (AP) -- St. Paul will go without a Taste of Minnesota in 2011.

The city has passed on four proposals to replace the long-running festival. Instead, St. Paul plans to put on a fireworks show on the Fourth of July.

For nearly 30 years, St. Paul has hosted a summer event featuring food, music and fireworks. But the Taste of Minnesota ran out of money after this year's event and has since shut down.

That left an opening for a new event on Harriet Island, and St. Paul put out a call for proposals. But Parks and Recreation spokesman Brad Meyer says none was accepted.

Instead, the city will stage a fireworks show. Meyer says details still need to be worked out, and no budget has been set yet.
