SAUK RAPIDS -- Grabbing a movie at your local video store was once a highlight for many of us growing up. But in today's digital world video rentals have become second thought.

However, for Family Video in Sauk Rapids they continue to survive.

"People still like to get out of the house, see different deals, see what's on the shelf," says Bednar.

With several big box stores, like blockbuster, closing up shop, Store Manager Sarah Bednar says it's that one on one service that separates them.

"People still like to talk to people about movies. Looking at a screen and reading about the movie doesn't really give you an opinion," says Bednar.

With the addition of Netflix and Hulu becoming more popular, Bednar says video stores still have their advantages.

"We get all new releases 28 days before Netflix and Redbox do, you can buy movies on our website, we send out coupons via text or email," says Bednar.

Bednar says she still sees video stores being popular in the future but it all starts, just like with many of us, by starting those memories early.
