A former favorite of the St. Cloud restaurant scene might just be making a triumphant comeback! Following the closure of HuHot Mongolian Grill in May, Central Minnesotans may soon be celebrating the return of Mongo's Grill.

MONGO'S GRILL JOBS POSTED

There appear to be two job postings for a Mongo's Grill in St. Cloud on job-search website Indeed: one for servers and one for hosts.

The server job lists a starting pay of $11.41 per hour (plus tips).

We are looking for a friendly, energetic, and dependable Server to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to providing exceptional guest experiences.

The host job lists a starting salary of $13-18 per hour plus tips.

FORMER MANAGERS MAY BE WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES

On Reddit, one user noticed the job listing and wondered if Mongo's was coming back. One user, arp500600, claims that some of the former previous General Managers from Mongo's pooled together to buy the restaurant. (This is unconfirmed speculation).

That’s exactly what happened. They held a reunion with previous employees and the amazing news came out. Some of the previous general managers of the Saint Cloud Mongos location AND a recurring/ long time Mongos customer put money together and are co-owners now. It MIGHT be open as early as July this year :)

I thought I’d add: For anyone who is looking to work there or in a restaurant, this would be the place to go. As I previous employee myself, these general managers are phenomenal. Jim (who most of you may know from eating here) is the prime example of a down to earth, very friendly, amazing manager. Managers like him are truly a needle in a haystack.

ST. CLOUD CITY COUNCIL INVOLVEMENT

The St. Cloud City Council has an agenda item for June 15th regarding the possible transfer of HuHot's liquor license to Mongo's, who is listed as being owned by 'MG Group, Inc.'

The license would allow Mongo's to carry wine and 3.2% liquor. A public hearing is scheduled for July 6th.

WHEN DID MONGO'S GRILL CLOSE?

Mongo's Grill closed in the fall of 2024 and was replaced by HuHot Mongolian Grill later that year. HuHot closed in May of 2026.
