Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 at Country Manor Chapel in Sartell for John F. Blonski, age 89, who passed away Monday at Country Manor Nursing Home. Rev. Larry Siekawitch will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.

John was born June 21, 1925 in Rhinelander, WI to John & Veronica (Kropko) Blonski. He served in the Office of Strategic Services for the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 and then returned home to graduate from the University of Wisconsin. He married Joan Cassidy on Oct. 8, 1955 in Quincy, IL. John and Joan raised their three children in Quincy where he worked for the Boy Scouts of America and later for many years at Gardner-Denver, retiring as manager of advertising services. He was always committed to serving others including volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America, Junior Achievement, Blessing Hospital and many other organizations. He loved reading, golfing, traveling and watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. John was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He is now resting at home with Jesus. John attended services at Country Manor Chapel and was a longtime member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy, IL where he served as Director of Religious Education and as President of the Holy Name Society.

Survivors include daughter, Julie (Marvin) Smith of Morton, IL, Joe (Patty) of Sartell, MN and Jack of Chatham, IL; and grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Courtney Smith, Meghan Petrie, Colin Blonski, and Becka Blonski. John was preceded in death by his wife Joan, brother Ray and his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to your local Boy Scouts of America Chapter.
