Rochester Man Convicted After Court Trial
Following a court trial, a Goodhue County judge today found 43-year-old Terry Izeal Heggs guilty of one count each of first-degree drug sales and possession. He is scheduled to be sentenced in December.
Search Warrant Leads to Meth, Cash Discovery
According to the charges in the case, the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office and members of the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crimes Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at an apartment building in Pine Island on the morning of June 4. The court document says Heggs was located in the bedroom of an apartment and was detained while law enforcement conducted their search.

The criminal complaint says the search resulted in the discovery of a quarter-pound of methamphetamine and more than $3,500 in cash. Investigators also seized two digital scales.
Heggs Has Lengthy Criminal History
Minnesota court records show that Heggs has a history of felony convictions that date back more than 15 years. The list includes multiple felony drug offenses and convictions for failing to register as a predatory offender.

In 2011, Heggs was sentenced to three years in prison for convictions involving a shooting and a sexual assault in Rochester. He entered a guilty plea to a second-degree assault charge for shooting a man in the leg during an altercation outside a southeast Rochester nightclub in 2009 and admitted to a fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct charge involving a sexual assault reported by a 16-year-old girl the following year.
