Fundraiser Launched for Goodhue Man Who Suffered Severe Leg Injury in Motorcycle Crash

Goodhue, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Go Fund Me Fundraiser has been launched for a southeast Minnesota man who suffered a severe leg injury in a motorcycle crash earlier this month.

35-year-old Phillip Carl Breidall of Goodhue was injured in a crash on the afternoon of August 12 at the Hwy. 52 and Hwy. 57 interchange north of Zumbrota.

The State Patrol says he was riding his motorcycle south on Hwy. 57 when he collided with a northbound car that was making a left turn onto the Hwy. 52 northbound onramp. 

39-year-old Jessica Ann Wetzstein of Wanamingo was identified as the car driver. She was not hurt.

Breidall suffered what the State Patrol described as life-threatening injuries in the crash and was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

The fundraiser says Breidall’s lower left leg was amputated on Monday and that he could face as many as three additional surgeries.

“He and his family have a long road ahead as he heals, begins rehabilitation, and adjusts to a new normal,” the fundraiser says. 

As of Tuesday afternoon more than $26,000 has been raised for Breidall and his family. 

The fundraiser says the money will go towards medical and rehabilitation costs, prosthetic and mobility-related needs, lost income due to time away from work, travel expenses to appointments and improvements for home or vehicle accessibility. It has a goal of raising $35,000.
