Three area high schools have received $5,000 from T-Mobile. The money, which is part of their Friday Night 5G Lights contest, has gone to Kimball, Royalton, and Eden Valley-Watkins. Last year, Royalton finished the nationwide contest in the Top 5, narrowly missing out on some big money.

Friday Night 5G Lights

T-Mobile is once again offering up some serious cash for schools that can rally their communities. Their Friday Night 5G Lights contest is giving 1000 schools across the US $5,000, and one school is going to win a million-dollar home field upgrade. But it all depends on rallying your community and, at some point, your state to put you over the top.

Minnesota Has Already Had Some 5K Winners

Not only has Central Minnesota seen three $5,000 winners, but Minnesota as a whole has seen schools winning money from T-Mobile. So far in 2026, these schools have won money from T-Mobile as part of their Friday Night 5G Lights contest:

  • Eden Valley-Watkins HS, Eden Valley, MN
  • Jackson County Central HS, Jackson, MN
  • Randolph HS Randolph, MN
  • Royalton HS Royalton, MN
  • Fillmore Central HS, Harmony, MN
  • Hinckley-Finlayson HS, Hinckley, MN
  • Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted HS, Howard Lake, MN
  • Kimball Area HS, Kimball, MN
  • La Crescent-Hokah HS, La Crescent, MN

How Can You Help Your School Out?

T-Mobile wants you to head to social media and follow a few rules to get your school in the running for not only $5,000 but possibly the $1,000,000 field makeover. According to the Friday Night 5G Lights website, "tag every social post with your school and @TMobile tagged using #FN5GL and #Entry is a chance to score big. Every share brings your town together. That momentum can lead to real rewards, from weekly $5K Fridays to the ultimate prize of a $1M home field upgrade."

How fun would it be to see Royalton repeat its success from last year, or better yet, all three of our Central Minnesota schools making the Top 25?
